  Are JWs the worst restaurant customers?

  (a little background info before i ask my question...).

  my sister-in-law (non-jw), who manages a popular chain restaurant near a kingdom hall, just found out that my wife and i have recently faded, so she decided to get something off her chest the other day... you guessed it: she wanted us to know that jws are the worst customers ever!

  she then told us some really embarrassing stories about how jws would request a table for 15 to 20 people (after a sunday meeting) and then (when the bill came) some of the jws would start deliberating amongst themselves on whether or not the waiter was diligent or not (to justify the low tip he was getting anyway).

  I recall a joke in the 70's [George Carlin I think might have said this] - 'Jehovah's Witnesses come to town for there religious conventions with the 10 Commandments in one hand and a 10 dollar bill in the other - and they don't break either one.'

  We had a 'sister' in our hall who would calculate to the very penny how much tip was proper for her food. If she had a cookie and a coffee and it came to $2.37, she would turn over the place-mat and multiply 2.37 x .15 and leave precisely 35 cents. Not a half dollar, or a dollar which is pretty common - but just precisely 15%. That might not seem bad, except that she would, like most Jw's drink plenty of coffee, demand excellent service, and always choose very inexpensive items from the menu.

  I think in general they deserve a poor reputation in this area from what I have seen.

  there are some wonderful folks reading this site.. so many wonderful jws( doubters ...but reading).

  also there are folks on here who know it is a cult... one of them just called me...( wont say who ,as is fading).. but encouraged me so very much,thank you thank you thankyou.

  POLL/SURVEY- Why Did You Leave The Organization of JW's?

  why did you leave the organization of jehovah's witnesses, and/or why are you contemplating leaving the organization of jehovah's witnesses?.

  i've tried to boil it down to the most likely answers based on all the reasons i have heard over the years from xjw's.

  a. because the watchtower bible & tract society does not have the truth.. b. because i had a personality conflict with other members of the organization.. c. because i discovered that the wtbts was not being honest or forthcoming about its history.. d. because serving jehovah was too difficult and i just wanted to be worldly and do wicked things.. e. because the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have proved to be false prophets.. f. because i found just cause to disagree with erroneous jw teachings.. g. because the governing body and/or elders were hypocritical.

  Not precisely - but I found that the quality of love as taught by Jesus in the Bible was missing - so I began to inspect the vehicle itself.

  No - not at all. If Jehovah was real, and had selected this religion, I would have stayed no matter the difficulty in serving

  Yes - later I found that all other Christian religion is just as flawed and false, so I rejected them too

  The above seemed like enough, though if I dug deeply I could probably find 'other' things to list

  i love my mother with all my heart.

  i purchased an airline ticket for her to visit my sister, one that hasn't spoken to me for over 7 years.

  my sis wants me to send her the itinerary of my mothers trip, asking her for it.

  Or better yet - just show up bigger'n'shit and talk to mankind simultaneously. Why not? Why hide behind holy writ that claims his inability to be seen and man live? Why force 'faith' and 'belief' into the picture. That whole concept is insanity to begin with - can you imagine literally fathering children and not letting them see you, hear you, or talk to you for their entire lives, while you expect them to 'worship' you with adoration?

  Bullshit. It's all bullshit to 100th degree!

  Show yourself God! And I will accept you. Otherwise you are a cowardly bastard father hiding from your children while they destroy each other, die of infinite plagues, and run in fear at the rupture of the earth.

  Simple really.

  In the Wizard of Oz the witch simply wrote in the sky. No one had to doubt that she was there. They could see unmistakable proof! No one had to profess 'faith' or 'belief' in things invisible and unprovable.

  If I woke in the morning and saw God's handwriting in the sky [and somehow knew it wasn't an elaborate hoax], or saw him rearrange the stars in clusters that stated "I am real, I am God." or something like that - then OK. I accept it and begin the process of 'knowing God'.

  He won't do that - because he isn't there. It would be super simple -

  If God exists and ordered a Purge how would you react?

  the reason why god killed everyone in the days of noah was because of the demons who came to earth.

  according to the story their direct presence and impact on us had a poisening effect.

  we became corrupted and god felt the need for a total purge.. that's what the witnesses say is happening today.

  don't get me wrong, it does suck.

  but after being on ex-jw boards for years, and being df'ed for almost 10; i do see some hidden blessings.. first, you do not have to struggle with fading successfully.

  I can't say I miss anything about the religion. I am lonelier now than I was then - or am I? Who really wants assholes as friends - and everyone of them has proven to be just that. Not a one ever showed at my door and even asked a simple 'Why?' - so piss on em.

  That doesn't mean anyone can prove that the Bible is dead right or that this makes Christianity the only religion that's meaningful, but it does mean that the Witnesses simply can't support their claim to teach the truth from the Bible.

  Nor can anyone else, mm. "Teach the truth from the Bible" seems to be the point to me. No one can show that anything of the sort [truth in anything close to absolute form] exists within that silly book. The book is absolutely clogged with contradiction, false reasoning, judgmentalist attitudes, genocidal references from and by 'god', sexist and racist viewpoints.

  In addition, it has then been dissected and regurgitated by thousands of 'sects' of Christianity - all or most of them pronouncing afterward that they have found 'truth' - yet if compared over the ages, or just within an age of history, none of them agree. Indeed, within your church of choice, you can probably segregate a hundred, or a thousand differing prismatic opinions about even the most 'core' doctrines.

  Perry [and his ilk] are everywhere. They yell from the housetops "Come, drink water free [as long as it is MY water, MY definition, MY doctrinal explanations]". How is any of that different in any way from what Jehovah's Witnesses do? How is one insane version of insanity [believing an ancient book filled with hatred and bigotry and blood-lusting god] better than another insane version of insanity [believing an ancient book filled with hatred and bigotry and blood lusting god]?

  As long as Christians do this - rather than adopt a rational perspective and introspective - they will forever flounder in the same mire for which they denounce all other sects, be their condemnation directed at Jehovah's Witnesses or another. Many have leaped from a frying pan to a fire while proclaiming freedom that they do not have. Sadly, this 'THE TRUTH' they miss.

  still, when i do, i always come across a thread or two by former jw's who are now church members.

  Me too. Jw's didn't invent either the ideas nor the particular approach to 'faith' they live by - all borrowed from mainstream Christianity about 120 years back. I agree.
